We met with Gene Zolotarev, producer and co-writer of Spy Grannies, to understand where this story comes from.
At its core, the idea is rooted in real life.
In a world filled with endless choices and constant noise, the story reflects on what truly matters in relationships.
And instead of telling it in a conventional way, it takes a bold and unexpected direction.
Why AI?
To bring the concept to life, the team turned to AI as the most effective medium to prototype the project visually.
With the support of the SHAIKE team, the trailer became a first step in shaping the tone, atmosphere, and creative direction of the film.
Making AI Feel Warm, Human, and Funny
We also spoke with filmmaker Yoni Attlan, who directed the trailer.
“Most AI films I see are cold and stylized. With Spy Grannies, I wanted to prove the opposite — that AI can feel warm, human, and funny.”
“The South of France in December, three grandmothers on a bench, a baker covered in flour. That’s the test. If AI can do that, it can do a lot of things.”
Instead of focusing on spectacle, the project explores something more subtle:
Emotion.
Atmosphere.
Human connection.
