Indywood International AI Cinefest (IIAC) is returning in 2027, with its next edition taking place on April 22 in Kerala, India.
Following its inaugural edition in 2026, the festival continues to build an international platform for filmmakers exploring how artificial intelligence can be used across filmmaking and storytelling.
For Season 2, SHAIKE is proud to partner with Indywood International AI Cinefest, connecting the festival with the SHAIKE community and our growing international network of AI filmmakers and festivals.
From 500+ Submissions to Season 2
The first edition of Indywood International AI Cinefest brought together more than 500 submissions from over 50 countries, with 25 awardees recognized during the March 2026 edition.
Now entering its second season, IIAC continues its focus on films that are either fully AI-generated or creatively incorporate AI into the filmmaking process.
The festival is backed by the legacy of All Lights Indywood Film Festival, extending Indywood’s work in international cinema into AI-powered storytelling.
A Platform for AI-Powered Storytelling
IIAC is open to filmmakers from around the world and aims to support experimentation, artistic innovation and international exchange around AI filmmaking.
Eligible films must incorporate at least 70% productive AI across pre-production, production or post-production.
Films under 30 minutes can enter the main AI category, while projects exceeding 30 minutes can be considered through the festival’s Special AI Feature Film category.
Films are evaluated across areas including script and storytelling, creativity in the use of AI, visual and sound design, and overall aesthetic and artistic integrity. A pre-selection committee reviews submissions before selected works advance to the Main Jury.
25 Awards Celebrating AI Filmmaking
Season 2 features 25 special awards recognizing different aspects of AI filmmaking.
Categories include Best AI-Generated Short Film, Best Director, Best Original Story or Concept, Best Visual Effects (AI-Generated), Best Animation (AI-Driven), Best Use of Generative AI Tools, Best AI-Human Collaboration Project, Best Experimental AI Film, Best AI Character or Avatar Creation, Best Hybrid AI Film, AI Visionary Award and Most Inspiring AI Film, among others.
The festival also states that the best two films will receive cash prizes, while all participants receive a certificate recognizing their creative contribution.
