CONVICTION is an experimental short film created entirely with AI tools. It illustrates an invisible psychological mechanism: the tendency to convert limited information into certainty. Human cognition treats coherent appearance — whether seen or theorized — as truth. Vision captures only a fragment of reality, yet the mind quickly elevates this fragment to a complete understanding. The same happens with scientific or social interpretations: once an explanation becomes familiar, it is adopted as truth rather than recognized as a model. Conviction replaces inquiry.
The film uses the phrase “white is white” as a symbolic reduction of this process. It is not a study of color but an illustration of epistemic closure. Perception treats white as a single property, although physics describes it as a composite structure. This discrepancy symbolizes a broader cognitive limitation: a lack of humility to admit how little we actually perceive. With minimal information — scientific, social or interpersonal — we form judgments, categorize and assign value, often unaware that we are working from fragments.
Inside a stark white environment, the film stages this mechanism as a controlled experiment. A prism introduces information that exceeds the limits of perception, and the group rejects it not because it is false, but because it destabilizes the certainty they have already constructed. The film does not explain this process; it performs it. It is a provocation, not a lecture.
Aesthetically, the work nods to Fellini’s symbolic theatricality and Antonioni’s precision in exposing psychological tension through minimal form. All visuals were generated with Runway Gen-3, Kling and Fal; sound and voice with Suno and Eleven Labs. The script, artistic direction and editing are fully original.
