Official Trailer Competition

Everything you need to prepare and submit your trailer. Read carefully – incomplete or non-compliant submissions will not be reviewed.

1. Format & Technical Specs

• Duration: 30 to 60 seconds, including the required end card.
• Aspect ratio: 16:9 horizontal.
• Resolution: 1920×1080 minimum; 4K (3840×2160) recommended.
• Frame rate: 24 fps recommended (cinematic). 25 fps accepted. Keep it constant — no variable frame rate.
• Audio: stereo, 48 kHz. Target loudness around -14 LUFS, true peak no higher than -1 dBTP, so volume is consistent on the theatre screen.
• Language: English required for any voiceover or on-screen text. Subtitles are mandatory for any other language, and must be burned into the picture (not a separate file).
• Make it cinematic – it will be screened in a theatre.

2. Required End Card

• Your trailer must end with the official SHAIKE Festival logo end card.
• Use the official end card as provided – do not recolor, restyle or crop it.
• Hold the end card on screen for at least 3 seconds.
• Download the official end card on the competition’s site, when filling out the form.

3. Rights & Content

• All AI tools are permitted. You must hold the rights to anything you use, including music, sound design, voices and voice models, images, stock and footage.
• No unauthorized likeness of any real, identifiable person (no deepfakes without consent).
• No third-party brands, logos or copyrighted characters you are not licensed to use.
• No hateful, defamatory, unlawful or explicit content.
• One submission per director.

4. What We’re Looking For

• A clear directorial point of view.
• Craft, sound design, editing rhythm, color, typography.
• Originality of form. Surprise us with how AI elevates your vision.

5. How to Submit

Submission is through the official form only. You must complete every field, incomplete submissions will not be reviewed.

On the form you will provide:

• Your public YouTube URL (see Section 6).
• Name and contact details.
• Confirmation that you hold all rights to the content (rights-cleared checkbox).

6. YouTube & Community

• Upload your trailer to YouTube as a public video. Add SHAIKE as collaborators.
• Include the official hashtag in the video title or description so it can be discovered by the community and tracked by the curatorial team:

7.Deadline

• Submissions close june 22nd at 23:59 CET.
• No entries or replacements accepted after this time.

8. Selection & Notification

• All eligible submissions are reviewed by the SHAIKE curatorial team.
• Selected entrants will be notified by July 1st.
• Finalists and winner will be screened during the SHAIKE Film Festival, La Ciotat, OCT 2-3 2026.

Official Rules & Terms of Participation

SHAIKE Film Festival, La Ciotat, 2–3 October 2026. Operated by FIRSTDRAFT MEDIA.

These Rules & Terms (the “Rules”) govern participation in the SHAIKE Trailer Competition (the “Competition”), organized by FIRSTDRAFT MEDIA, operator of the SHAIKE Film Festival and the SHAIKE platform (“SHAIKE”). By submitting an entry, you (the “Entrant” or “Director”) accept these Rules in full.

1. Eligibility

• Open to SHAIKERS only — filmmakers registered on the SHAIKE platform. You can apply to become a SHAIKER at: https://shaike.ai/join-shaike/
• Entrants must be 18 years of age or older at the time of submission.
• Open to individual directors or small teams. Where a team submits, one named Director acts as the authorized representative for all team members and warrants authority to accept these Rules on their behalf.
• One submission per Director.
• No entry fee.
• Original work only. The trailer must be original and created specifically for this Competition. Pre-existing trailers, reels or shorts will not be accepted.
• Employees of FIRSTDRAFT MEDIA, the SHAIKE team, and members of the jury are not eligible.

2. Submission & Review

• All eligible submissions are reviewed by the SHAIKE curatorial team.
• SHAIKE may, at its sole discretion, refuse, withdraw or disqualify any submission that breaches these Rules, is ineligible, infringes third-party rights, or contains unlawful, defamatory, hateful or offensive content.
• AI tool disclosure. Entrants must, on request, disclose the principal AI tools and models used to create the trailer, and confirm that the outputs do not infringe any third-party rights (including the unauthorized likeness of real persons or protected characters).

3. Rights You Keep

As Director, you retain ownership of your trailer. Specifically, you keep:

• Full ownership of your work, in all forms and media.
• Permanent moral rights under French law — including the inalienable right to be credited as author.
• The right to submit your trailer to other festivals after the SHAIKE premiere.
• All commercial rights to exploit your work for your own purposes (e.g. your reel, your clients, your platforms), subject only to the licence you grant SHAIKE below.

4. Rights You Grant to SHAIKE

By submitting, and as a condition of entry, you grant FIRSTDRAFT MEDIA (SHAIKE) a perpetual, irrevocable, worldwide, royalty-free, non-exclusive and sublicensable licence to use, reproduce, distribute, publicly perform, communicate and display the trailer (in whole or in part). You grant SHAIKE:

• The right to use the trailer across SHAIKE’s full activity — the SHAIKE Film Festival (all past, present and future editions), and the SHAIKE platform, studio, brand, and related promotional and commercial activities.
• Use in all media now known or later developed, including online, broadcast, theatrical, social, on-site event and physical formats.
• The right to edit, excerpt, re-version and adapt the trailer for the permitted uses — including a short social cut (e.g. 15 seconds). Director credit is retained wherever reasonably practicable.
• The right to use the trailer in paid advertising and marketing of SHAIKE, the Festival and the platform.
• The right to sublicense these uses to SHAIKE’s partners, sponsors, media partners and distributors, strictly in connection with promoting SHAIKE, the Festival and the platform.
• Use of stills and frames from the trailer in editorial, press and promotional materials.
• The right to use your name, biography, likeness and the trailer’s title to credit, announce and promote your participation.
• Festival branding rights on the master version of the winning trailer.

This licence is non-exclusive: it does not prevent you from exploiting your own work elsewhere. It is intended to let SHAIKE promote and operate its festival, platform and brand without restriction, while you retain ownership.

5. Warranties & Clearances

By submitting, you confirm and warrant that:

• You hold all rights necessary to grant the licence in Section 4, and that doing so does not breach any third-party agreement.
• You have cleared all elements of the trailer — including music, sound design, voices and voice models, images, stock, footage, and any AI-generated outputs — and hold valid rights or licences for each, sufficient for the uses granted above.
• The trailer does not infringe any copyright, trademark, privacy, publicity, moral or other right of any third party, and contains no unauthorized likeness of any real, identifiable person.
• You agree to indemnify and hold harmless FIRSTDRAFT MEDIA (SHAIKE), its partners and sublicensees against any claim, loss or cost arising from a breach of these warranties.

6. Moral Rights (French Law)

SHAIKE respects the Director’s moral rights, which under French law are perpetual and inalienable. To enable the permitted uses (and only for those uses), the Director agrees not to object to reasonable edits, format changes, excerpting or re-versioning of the trailer carried out in good faith by SHAIKE — provided such uses do not harm the Director’s honour or reputation, and provided authorship credit is retained wherever reasonably practicable.

7. Personal Data (GDPR)

SHAIKE processes Entrants’ personal data (e.g. name, contact details, biography) solely to administer the Competition and to promote it, the Festival and the platform, in accordance with applicable data protection law (including the GDPR). Entrants may exercise their data rights by contacting SHAIKE at the address below.

8. Governing Law & Jurisdiction

These Rules are governed by French law. Any dispute relating to the Competition or these Rules shall be submitted to the competent courts of France.

9. Acceptance

By submitting an entry, you confirm that you have read, understood and accepted these Rules in full, and that you hold all rights necessary to grant the licence set out above.
