“In the dark shadow… of the manor…”
It all began with that phrase, whispered by my son one evening. At just seven years old, he recited those lines with the gravity of an actor, conjuring up from scratch the seed of what would become this film. In my lab, AI isn’t there to replace imagination; it exists to give physical substance to those sparks of human creativity.
WELCOME TO “THE DREAMER OF THE GREAT CUPBOARD”
This short film is a musical fable conceived as a tribute to the whimsical, free-spirited poetry of our childhood. Inspired by the surrealism of Jacques Prévert and the irony of La Fontaine, I wanted to explore the unlikely destiny of a little creature with a colander for a head—one who rejects darkness in favor of shining a light.
Originally, this story was meant to appear in Volume 3 of my collection Les Aventuriers du rire (“The Adventurers of Laughter”—zany tales). When time ran out to complete the print book, this project became the sanctuary for my obsession with staging and musicality.

Far removed from digital “slop” and ten-minute automated generations, this film is the result of weeks of intensive work:
✨ Art Direction: A constant quest to recapture the texture of vintage illustration—the fine cross-hatching and the curves of a pencil sketch.
🎵 Audio “Mickey-Mousing”: A precision-timed score where every rhyme ending in “-ar” or “-oir” physically dictates the movement on screen.
🛠️ Signature Workflow: Created using my proprietary “Promptcrafter” interface, leveraging the stability of Seedance 2 Mini and the rendering power of the Gaïa model (Topaz Video AI) to deliver a 4K experience worthy of the big screen.
