Step Sequence began with a simple question: what happens to the dreams we abandon? Do they disappear, or do they quietly remain with us, shaping who we become?
I wanted to tell a deeply personal story without villains or dramatic twists. Rita’s conflict is one that many people recognize — the gradual replacement of passion with practicality, and the realization that success does not always erase regret.
Although the film was created with AI-assisted tools, the technology was never the subject. Every creative decision was made in service of the emotional truth of the story. My goal was to use AI the way cinematography, editing, or visual effects are used: as a means of expressing emotion rather than drawing attention to the process itself.
