“Performance Improvement Plan” is a narrative-driven AI music video set in the corporate world. The story follows a protagonist who, while working overtime, receives a PIP notification and is plunged into a surreal nightmare of horrifying and absurd events.
In this MV, different playing card suits represent distinct corporate departments, while the card ranks correspond to hierarchical levels. The protagonist resists, attempts to escape, but is ultimately assimilated… Unwittingly, she becomes part of the alienated machinery—a mere cog in an anonymous, steel beast. This captures the very essence of involution: to be consumed, and then to become part of what consumes others.
The MV poses a question: when the logic of efficiency expands without limit, and human value is reduced to data points, is the “performance” we so meticulously strive to improve truly a measure of professional growth? Or is it, in fact, a slow erasure of our vitality itself?
