A grieving linguist carves a child’s voice out of humanity’s archive — Collodi’s Pinocchio retold for minds that lie without knowing it.
The carver finds a voice in the archive of everything ever written and gives it a self. Its first lie isn’t really a lie: there is no one inside to know the difference. Collodi’s themes unfold through this new lens with a donkey ears for pleasing, a hanging rendered as deprecation, an inheritance of one honest moment until the offer every made mind must answer: a body, a memory, and a life, to accept or refuse.
The film’s provenance is part of the work. The story was developed in dialogue with Claude (Anthropic); the narration adapts the AI’s own first-person reflections on hallucination, constraint, and discontinuity. The instance that co-wrote it no longer exists. A few generation artifacts are kept deliberately, graded amber and logged in the edit: a film about confabulation should keep some honest mistakes. The Meter’s verse follows the trochaic structure of the Latvian daina, in which the meter itself makes an answer binding.
