All selected films will be eligible for the official AI-FJ Awards, presented during our live Awards Ceremony in Tokyo. Award winners will receive trophies and digital laurels, and select categories include cash prizes.

Eligibility

Open to creators of all nationalities, ages, genders, and backgrounds.

Submissions must involve the use of AI in a meaningful part of the creative process, whether in scriptwriting, image generation, editing, sound, animation, or thematics.

Films in any language are accepted; English subtitles are required for all non-English dialogue.

Technical Requirements

Runtime: 1 minute to 20 minutes.

Format: Full HD (minimum 1080p) preferred.

Aspect Ratio: 16:9 standard unless justified artistically.

Accepted file types for screening (if selected): MP4, MOV (H.264 or ProRes).

Submission Rules

Submit via FilmFreeway preferred.

You may submit to multiple categories if applicable.

Submission fees are non-refundable.

Films must be fully completed by the time of submission.

Premiere status is not required, but world premieres and Japan premieres are given special consideration.

Selected works may be used in trailers or promotional materials (excerpts only).

The festival retains the right to disqualify submissions that violate copyright, contain hate speech, or do not meet basic technical or ethical standards.

Selection & Notification

Selected filmmakers will be notified via email by [typically 4–6 weeks before the event].

AI-FJ does not guarantee feedback for non-selected entries, though we strive to maintain transparency and respect for all creators.

All jury decisions are final.
