Under a merciless sun, a pharaoh is melting on his throne, and every gift brought to cool him has failed.
When an elderly stonemason loses his job, he sets out with his old dog on an absurd quest: to fetch ice from a distant glacier and carry it home before it melts.
Across sea, foreign lands and frozen peaks, the gruff old man pushes on, tossing aside every broken shard of ice, never noticing what his dog is quietly doing behind his back.
When he finally reaches the palace gate, the last shard melts at the end of his rope; only a puddle remains. But the dog has been collecting every discarded shard, and has carried them all to the palace. The true gift was the one the dog offers his grumpy master; made of everything he threw away. A wordless comedy about a man, his dog, and what they never tell each other.
