A man spends forty minutes rehearsing a birthday greeting in his bathroom mirror. He irons his suit. He gets a haircut. His car breaks down on the way.
He walks.
On the other side of the city, a woman waits beside her Porsche with the patience of someone who already knows how this goes. When he finally arrives, he whispers the longest birthday speech she has ever heard — rehearsed, sincere, and slightly repetitive.
Her birthday is tomorrow.
She laughs. He holds her. A passing car fills the air with exhaust smoke thick enough to swallow them both.
Neither of them moves.
