Parasocial is an AI-assisted, supernatural, horror proof of concept about influencer culture, parasocial obsession, and the dark side of social media.
A skeptical researcher, an analog documentarian, an ex-priest, and a spiritual investigator uncover a parasocial force feeding on fame, devotion, and sacrifice. As influencer culture becomes its altar, they race to stop an unholy entity from enslaving the earth.
The project uses horror as social commentary on the way digital platforms can exploit loneliness, identity, desire, and the human need for connection. In the world of Parasocial, followers become worshippers, engagement becomes devotion, and influence becomes possession.
The piece was created through an AI-assisted filmmaking workflow combining generative image and video, cinematic shot design, character development, editing, sound design, and finishing. My goal was to use AI not as a shortcut, but as a production tool for building atmosphere, tone, and story at a scale that would be difficult for an independent creator to achieve through traditional production alone.
