Filmmaker : Simon Rieth
Synopsis : Ruled by invisible (hands), what’s behind this presence we feel, fear and sometimes challenge? Read like a prayer but felt like a plead, “A River” is a visual rendition that aims to expand the original poem’s reach, invoking everyday images with a sense of infinite flow. An animated inquiry on the fluidity of choice. A prayer and a nod to times of uncertainty. “A River in a River” is based on António Ramos Rosa existentialist poem ‘Um Rio no Rio’.
Description : Part digital abyss, part analog decay. Neither fully human nor machine but wriggling things synthesized. I’m a film editor with a strong focus on feature films and a distinct interest in intersecting fiction with documentaries. I grew up in São Paulo, Brazil and now I live and work in NYC. “Blase” is the name I use to publish my experiments with music, video and algorithmic art.
